Even though I'm sad that so many record stores are closing in New York, I'm still encouraged by the possibility of choice vinyl flea market finds. Last weekend, I happened upon a trove of late 80's/early 90's house. All it took was an 808 and a dream in those days...
Pal Joey squeeze some sounds of his mixing board that are all over popular music now. This is his take of Roy Ayers' Running Away with a touch of Sister Sledge. Pretty genius, if you ask me. Check out his website.

This is the b-side to Love Machine, a more conventional disco ditty. This always gets stuck in my head when I listen to it.
